Roundtable Conversation

FaithTrust Institute continues to pave the way in innovative training and educational programming with the launch of their first Roundtable Conversation.

FaithTrust Institute continues to pave the way in innovative training and educational programming with the launch of their first Roundtable Conversation on Wednesday, August 10, 2011. The Roundtable was a part of a Summer/Fall Webinar Series.  The topic of conversation was Multifaith Perspectives on Suffering and Sexual & Domestic Violence. To discuss this common spiritual question with those who experience domestic violence, FaithTrust Institute brought together Roshi Jan Chozen Bays MD, Rabbi Mark Dratch, and Rev. Dr. Marie M. Fortune, from the Buddhist, Jewish, and Christian traditions respectively, in one forum.

Before a global audience, the Roundtable format allowed each of these prominent leaders to individually share their faith’s perspectives on suffering, an issue that has confounded religious scholars and faith leaders for centuries. They then came together in a discussion with the audience to consider how we can support victims and survivors of abuse in healing from their suffering.

The success and overwhelmingly positive response from this Roundtable reinforces FaithTrust’s commitment to continue to expand their Webinar and Roundtable series to tackle and reflect on difficult faith issues.

An updated Webinar and Roundtable schedule is available on the www.faithtrustinstitute.org.  FaithTrust is hosting two more Webinars this month:

  • For Advocates & Rabbis: Resources & Roadblocks for Jewish Battered Women – August 16, Rabbi Mark Dratch
  • For Advocates & Pastors: Resources for Christian Battered Women – August 23, Dr. Nancy Murphy

The next Roundtable brings together International Christian Leaders from Norway, Canada, Australia and the U.S. on September 7, 2011. They will discuss the topic: Misconduct & Abuse by Christian Leaders.
